Each of our Bread Bowls are created as ovenware, able to be heated to high temperatures in our oven. Of course, they’re dishwasher and microwave safe as well.
Here’s how to bake bread in your bowl:
Make your dough, either from our recipe or yours. You can even use prepackeaged bread mixes made for bread machines. Knead it as directed, then place the dough into your Bread Bowl that you’ve prepared with spray oil or shortening.
Place the Bowl, uncovered, into your cold oven. Turn the temperature to 170 degrees, and crack the door open slightly. Let the dough rise for 60-75 minutes, our until doubled. Don’t punch it down, and leave it in the oven. Turn your oven to 350-375 degrees, depending on your recipe’s instructions, and let the bread bake to a gold brown.
When it’s done, turn off the oven, crack the door open, and let the bread cool a bit in the oven. You can remove the Bread Bowl when it’s cooled enough to handle with your bare hands.
You can serve it right from the Bowl, or we cut the very top off to sample while it’s warm, and that makes a flat surface for placing your bread upside down on a cutting board to slice. Delicious!
So why did I start making Bread Bowls? It’s an interesting story involving my Grandma Alene Parnell.
